Oops I'm Late! Economy Edition

If you read my Get more from GPS by sharing your location with family and friends article in the latest issue of Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine, you know that there are many applications that will use your current location to provide a whole suite of valuable services like local business search, real-time maps and more.

Oops I'm Late! was one of the most innovative applications that I reviewed for this article, because it actually searches your Windows Mobile Calendar for the next appointment, identifies your location, and "auto-magically" figures out how far you are from the appointment. If you're going to be late, it sends a text message to the person who's waiting for you with your ETA. Last month, the company released an "Economy edition" that offers most of the features of this powerful application at a more palatable price.

Oops I'm Late! will extract your next appointment from the Calendar application and display information on your distance and arrival time based on your current GPS coordinates.

Oops I'm Late! Economy edition ($34.99) features all the same great features of the Standard Edition ($69.99) but has the following restrictions:

  • No balloon popup alert notifications - You cannot snooze, cancel or swich to the next appointment without switching out of another application or phone call.
  • No custom text message fields - The Economy edition doesn't include the ability to customize the outgoing text message with custom Windows Mobile fields, beyond sending the estimated time of your arrival.
  • Only store five locations - While the Standard and Professional editions allow you to store an unlimited number of locations (which tells Oops I'm Late! the addresses of places like "The Guys Local Hangout") the economy edition only allows you to save up to five of these addresses.

The Ecomomy edition lists for $34.95, but you can buy it from the company's web site right now, for a $10 discount. A 3-day free trial is also available (Standard and Professional editions only) by sending an E-mail to freetrial [at] oopsimlate [dot] com.

Although this Economy edition removes a few of the features that truly make Oops I'm Late an exciting and innovative application, it's great that the company could offer this application at a more "entry level price."
