Celio Extends Discount On Redfly

 The Celio Redfly is a device that provides a netbook-sized keyboard and monitor for Windows Mobile Smartphones and Pocket PCs. Originally priced at as much as $500, Celio has had a discount promotion during the month of October during which they have been selling the Redfly for $199. Reports are that Celio has extended the promotion for a couple more weeks, and as of November 4, the discount is still available on their web site.

I wrote a review on the Redfly for the upcoming print edition of Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine. You can debate whether in light of the emerging netbook and cheap notebook computer market there is a place for the Redfly, which cannot function without attachment (via either USB or Bluetooth) to a Windows Mobile device. In my opinion, if you have an Windows Mobile device and you want to use a larger, external keyboard to enter text, buy the Redfly at the $199 price. I think there was a time when the Stowaway keyboards cost as much, and the Redfly has the added bonus of providing a monitor and the ability to connect USB thumb drives for external storage.
