Spb Mobile Shell version 5 coming!

Can't say enough about Mobile Shell from SPB. If you run vanilla flavored WinMo, it can be a pain to navigate and find apps. SPB Mobile Shell fixes that with one unified menu system and home screen that lets you manage apps, check time and weather, browse contacts and do much more. All without leaving the slick, user-interactive interface.

Sense UI replacement GUI in development

Topics:

Thank goodness for XDA developers, because if the site didn't exist, WinMo hacks, custom ROMs, and general all-round great tweaker stuff would... well, probably be posted on some other cool site. I recently snagged this developing story off pocketnow, on a new GUI in the works.

HP Glisten Wrap-Up

I have really enjoyed using the Glisten the past month as a carry-along phone. Actually it’s been a little longer, since I had to wait until after CES wrapped up to post this.

CES coverage on our sister site...

Too many blogs to keep up with, I know, but if you want to follow our CES coverage on iphonelife.com, some of it is multi-platform related and may still interest our WinMo readers. See the recent myDitto post, for instance. This product also has a Windows Mobile 6.1 client app, and allows you to access your home server files from anywhere...

I have not been posting on CES over here (just lack of time), but mostly we are focusing on the iPhone coverage. However, I will cross-post items of WinMo interest.

Glisten Unboxing

Glisten1 I have had the HP iPAQ Glisten for over a week or so now, but just getting round to the un-boxing post (sorry). I am impressed in some ways, but HP staying almost completely away from adding any custom/additional apps is a little surprising.

Thanks, Microsoft!

enWin7 This is a bit off topic, so bear with me. I upgraded my Windows Vista laptop to Windows 7 a couple of weeks ago. This is an important machine to me. I do most of my blogging, and reviewing on it. It’s a dual-boot (using WUBI), which loads through the Windows boot manager, and I was worried about screwing up my boot sequence and losing my Ubuntu configuration along with hosing Vista.

MS Marketplace also available via browser

Topics:

With the latest release of official 6.5-based phones came Microsoft's app store, but you needed to initially have a phone to check out the Marketplace. Now you can browse WinMo apps from the Marketplace using your PC browser. You can't actually download anything directly here though (like cabs), which is a bit of a disappointment. You can check out the expanding MS app store here...
